Authentic Japanese tea pots, one-of-a-kind vases handmade in Tuscany, quirky prints from California and Danish handwoven textiles. Ever since the two designers Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft opened the first Stilleben store in 2002 they have been travelling frequently to handpick products from across the globe. The two met at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts when studying glass and ceramics and they soon became close friends as they shared a strong passion for good craftsmanship and peculiar objects.
Stilleben is a German art concept referring to a work of art depicting mostly inanimate objects. The name is closely related to the Stilleben signature; to handpick products from across the globe and mix them in a personal way.
Today Stilleben has a webshop and two stores in the heart of Copenhagen offering a carefully selected mix of handmade ceramics, one of a kind-products, textiles, furniture, jewellery, prints and original art works – all handpicked by the two founders. Stilleben also boasts a Stilleben accessory range, only available in Stilleben, as well as a Stilleben Print Collection featuring some of their bestselling artists. Stilleben recently became co-owner of a ceramic factory, which produces Stilleben’s own products, amongst others their hand-thrown tableware collection. Besides this the Stilleben design duo design products for acknowledged Danish design companies such as Georg Jensen, Skagerak and Kähler.
