Each heir has constantly evolved the "Wittamer" style By making pastry from generation to generation, the house has given memory to the ephemeral. So many cakes, sweets, pieces mounted as tastings in the memories of family dinners from all over Belgium and beyond, in the annals of many travelers come to pass the end of the nose behind the windows and be tempted ... At numbers 6, 12 and 13 of the Place du Grand Sablon in Brussels, each heir, regardless of the modes and eras, has constantly changed the style "Wittamer". The story tells that it is on foot that one day, Henri Wittamer, then orphan, younger of nine children, endowed with the force of things of a powerful character, leaves his native Ardenne to go to Brussels, where he starts as an apprentice in a bakery. In 1910, he opened his own shop called Modern Bakery with a formidable insight ... 100 years later, customers are always served at the same place! Henri's only son, Henry II, inherited his father's work force. He gets married to Yvonne. It is she who gives the turning point of modernity. Since the end of the 1980s, the third generation has seen the international renown strengthen with the poetic and technical efficiency of Paul, a master baker and pastry chef, Relais Desserts member, and the creative demand of Myriam, the soul artist of the house.
