Regarded as one of the most famous restaurants in town, the old Los Dos Hermanos (The Two Brothers) restaurant used to be a place serving shellfish, fish, stews and good wine. Visiting celebrities, such as dancer Isadora Duncan in the winter of 1916, have enjoyed eating here. Located in the Havana port area not far from the Russian Orthodox Church and Armadores de Santander Hotel, the Dos Hermanos Restaurant is a good starting point for those who choose to walk along the tree-lined promenade Alameda de Paula or have a look at Cuban handicrafts at Centro Cultural Antiguos Almacenes de Depósito San José (an indoor craft market). Having said that, don’t expect a good view–the chronic shortage of parking in Old Havana is on full view opposite as cars vie for the limited number of spaces. This building has been refurbished several times over the years and is now much more chic than a working sailor port of call. This has been done well and, as a casual diner, it looks great.Food wise, there is a choice of sandwiches, as well as more substantial dishes including a Cuban stew, malanga cream and chicken, tuna and shellfish salads, as well as a combination of chicken, pork, ham, shrimp, lobster, fish and loin. My only real issue with this place is that whenever I eat here, I have to watch the bill very carefully and, even before this, make a big fuss to see both the casual sandwich menu and the (more expensive) main menu.
