The forest tree nursery is located between Niemannsweg, Feldstrasse, Koester- and Schlieffenallee. The origin of this park dates back to the 18th century. Kiel was still under Danish administration on 1 August 1785 at Kiel University, a forestry training center was opened. The initiator of this training institute was Professor August Niemann. At this institute, soldiers were trained as foresters.
