The Monro is one of Liverpool's most notable gastro-pubs, eschewing bright lights and frills in favour of something a little more homely. The interior combines Georgian, Edwardian and Regency styles to achieve a calm and comforting atmosphere in which to present the delicious food, which is prepared using fresh and, where possible, organic ingredients. Here, you can sample dishes such as the famous Scouse stew, 'posh' fish and chips and mushrooms baked with Muscadet, chilli and Brie. The wine list offers good, dependable wines. Three courses here cost an average of £17 per person.
