Kiwan Palace was previously known as " Sadat Palace " after the name of one of the deep-rooted Damascus families where they lived long time ago. Sadat Palace was considered as one of the distinctive palaces in region, such as Khanom Palace, Al-Salihi Palace, and Abou Khalil Al-Kabbani Palace which were well known as gathering the eastern and western styles in their architectural designs. Sadat Palace was visited by many presidents and kings during that period. Kiwan Palace is located at Al-Mazzeh Kiwan Quarter, overviews gardens previously known as Al-Neirab Gardens after two of Barada River 's seven effluents which flew through that region which was known as a distilled area due to a nice scent.
