Our two story building situated in Pottingers Entry a narrow cobbled entry running between two of the city centre’s busiest thoroughfares. We are one of Belfast’s oldest pubs dating back as far as 1810 first built as a coaching stop for the Belfast to Dublin post. The Morning Star name is said to come from the nickname the boys who worked at the old mail coach depot called the building as it was their first point of call of the day usually as the rest of Belfast was still asleep and all that guided them were gas lamps, the moon and stars. Nowdays things are a little different around here. The Morning Star is a family owned and run traditional bar and restaurant in the heart of the city centre. We provide everything from a buffet lunch to the top end gourmet Beef Club that often showcases the best of what our little country has to offer. We strive to supplier local farmers, growers, producers and hope that this only enhances our offering. Our food is freshly sourced and grown locally wherever possible with an emphasis on championing the great produce and artisan foods from our wee country. For example we run a beef club in our restaurant that strives to provide a unique dining experience for our customers. We supplier sustainable farming techniques and have ethically reared grass fed beef all year round for our customers we also source the best beef from the top sales in Ulster. We ensure that we provide our customers with the best quality food produce from the likes of Great Taste Award Winners, Ballyblue and Oakwood Smoked from Fivemiletown Creamery, Young Buck Blue Cheese from Mike's Fancy Cheese Newtownards, black and white pudding from Gracehill Farm, free range hens eggs from Cavanaghs in Fermanagh.
