Our story begins in Mantua, in 1966, when local dairies start a cooperation to achieve better quality in production. The Consortium became immediately excellent in the production of fresh butter and creams, but over the years it goes much further, towards aged cheeses, with the marketing of Grana Padano DOP and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP. Yesterday, as today, we focus on the continuous evolution of excellence that has made the Consortium a solid reality in the Italian scenario and a benchmark in the dairy sector for large retailers. Our mission is to bring to the table of millions of consumers an Italian product of the highest quality, guaranteed by a controlled and certified production chain, worked with the most modern technologies and always respecting tradition. At the beginning the dairies associated with the Consortium were 27 small companies in the Mantuan countryside, but today it counts among its members over 50 companies and 1,500 farmers who cooperate in the production, packaging and marketing of Virgilio brand products: butter, mascarpone, UHT cream, milk, béchamel, Grana Padano DOP and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP.
