Café van Leeuwen, typical of Utrechtsestraat, has a beautiful view of the Keizersgracht. In the morning you can have an extensive breakfast with a cup of coffee. Around 12 o'clock it is pleasantly busy, because then people come here for lunch. There is a great deal of emphasis on lunch at van Leeuwen, but you would still be short of Cafe van Leeuwen if you called it a "lunch café". It is a very Amsterdam cafe, which is open until 1 o'clock during the week and even until 3 o'clock during the week. It is a cozy melting pot of local residents, regular customers and passers-by.
