Cafe with a history, Open since the 18th century In the 18th century, an Italian named Nicola inaugurated in rossio one of the first cafes in lisbon that he called “Botequim do Nicola”. Soon, the establishment began to be attended by well-known writers, artists and politicians. Some frequented the cafe so often that they made it their second home, as was the case with the poet Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage.
