Set up by Michelin-starred chef Martin Wishart in 2011, The Honours is an elegant and modern French restaurant in Edinburgh. Its brasserie-style menu has been created by Martin Wishart and current head chef Paul Tamburrini, and incorporates seasonal, Scottish ingredients. Signature chateaubriand and roast rib of beef are grilled for 2 to share, with the former served with duck-fat chips, and the latter drizzled in Szechuan sauce and served with pommes cocottes and confit mushrooms. French classics such as confit duck a l’orange and chicken fricassee feature in traditional mains, while there’s a host of freshly-caught Scottish fish seafood, which includes a glorious line-caught halibut with glazed pig trotters and a delicate crab cappuccino. There’s also hand-rolled pasta on The Honours menu, while the wine list is a sophisticated 17-page selection of French and New World wines and signature cocktails. The interior of the Honours restaurant is laid out in an elegant, formal brasserie style. On North Castle Street, The Honours looks out over Queen Street Gardens, and is less than a mile from Edinburgh Station.
