Our French bistro Le Moujik in Petersburg is a place with an informal atmosphere and a simple menu. The word “bistro” is French, but it appeared thanks to our compatriots. The impatient Russian demand: “quickly!” The French turned into a special genre of institutions where they served immediately, without delay, and without special restaurant ceremonies into a bistro. In honor of those Russians who taught the French something, we called ourselves Bistrot le Moujik. We thought a lot about the institution name and consulted with all the witty friends. So far, finally, among all kinds of “Roosters”, “Old dudes”, “Thermidors” and other “Kokoriko” versions of the famous designer Andrey Shelutto have not sounded. His "Le Man" shot right away. Here, irony and love came together, Petersburg and Paris, Harms and Saltykov-Shchedrin. Logo painted Mitya Kharshak. The interior design was created by Mikhail Barkhin - a long-term ally of the restaurateur Muradyan. Together, they once made the "Pub Café", restaurants "Moscow", "Leningrad", "Korovabar", "EM", "New World". Interestingly, 11 years ago, Barkhin had already built a restaurant and a vinotheque in this very room, and for the sake of a bistro, he had to rethink the space again. Michael attracted to the work of his friend, the Petersburg decorator Andrei Dmitriev. Together, the artists drove through the village markets, flea markets and antique fairs of the French south to buy dishes and furniture, appliances and pots, mirrors and decorations for the “Guy”. Among other things, Barkhin brought Provencal chairs with wicker seats from the expedition. These chairs are more than a hundred years old, and they are not just similar to those depicted in the paintings of Van Gogh, but came exactly from the places where the artist lived.
