LivinGood’s Restaurant was conceived by husband and wife team, Matt and Jess Ray. The Rays have been together for over ten years. And in that time, they have both shared a passion for the restaurant business. Born in Philadelphia, PA, a love for traditional, regional cuisine was passed on to them both at an early age. The two met in Potsdam during the summer of ’95, the year Matt graduated from SUNY Potsdam. They spent the next few years working in the local restaurant / service industry and spending their free time hiking the Adirondacks. Matt managed The Cactus Grill and Cantina and Jess explored a career in photography all the while managing the Willow Island restaurant in Canton. Being an avid home brewer, Matt wanted to try his hand at the micro brewing industry and Jess wanted to continue to build her photography portfolio. In the summer of ’98 the Rays moved to Colorado. They found themselves in Longmont, just north of Boulder, working for Left Hand Brewing Company. Matt worked his way up to Head of Brewery Operations and Jess managed the Retail Tasting Room. After spending three years away from their families and the Adirondacks, the Rays decided to move back east. Matt was brought in by Lake Placid Pub & Brewery as a brewer and later become Head Brewer. Jess spent the next couple of years building a wedding photography business and working for the Adirondack Museum in Lake Placid. Through all their experiences and travels they always spoke of having their own restaurant someday. They wanted to create a restaurant where all ages felt comfortable and the food was made fresh. LivinGood’s Restaurant was founded in October of 2005, and this dream became a reality!
