The first mention of beer brewing in Perun dates back to 1295, when King Vaclav II promoted Perun to a royal city and granted townspeople the right to brew and malt, and granted the city the right to a mile. In 1872, townspeople built a communal brewery, which brewed beer until 1978, when it was decommissioned. After a twenty-year hiatus, Myers revived the tradition of brewing beer in Byron and founded the Berounsky medved family brewery. The Beroun Bear brewery is unique.
