Malaysia is a multi-racial country which was also colonized by the Japanese, British, Dutch and Portuguese. We were also formed as a nation with many different existing races' ancestors who migrated over many decades ago. In our country, there are three main races: Malay, Chinese and Indian but there are also many more indigenous tribes like the Kadazans, Dusuns, Ibans, Bidayuh, Kayans, Muruts so on and so forth. And with cross-races marriages and a great variety of other ingredients and different methods of food preparations due to the influence of the state's varied geography and indigenous cultures that were quite distinct from the regional cuisines. Malaysia's culinary style in the present day is primarily a melange of traditions from its Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian and ethnic Bornean citizens, with heavy to light influences from Thai, Portuguese, Dutch, and Caucasian cuisines to name a few. This resulted in a symphony of flavors.
