The building was built in 1927 with the intention of setting an architectural example. The jagged style typical of Marburg can still be seen today in the windows, doors and dormers. At the time, the rooms were used as a bakery with a café. In the 1960s, the café found a new use and was converted into a restaurant. While the inventory remained largely untouched, despite frequently changing tenants, the rooms were completely redesigned. Even at this time, the restaurant was a popular meeting place for artists. For example, K.-H. Kress and F. Frank made the restaurant their regular haunt. Almost 80 years after it was built, the restaurant was completely renovated. In 2005, the restaurant was carefully renovated with a lot of personal effort. Care was taken to observe economically valuable standards without compromising the original architecture. All measures were closely coordinated with the monument department of the city of Marburg. Even today, changing art exhibitions are held in the premises of the Ristorante & Pizzeria Colosseo in order to revive and maintain the old tradition of artists' meetings.
