Kazuya Yamauchi grew up in Kagawa, Japan. He studied to be a chef at the Culinary Institute in Osaka after he graduated from high school. Starting his career at the restaurant "ACQUA PAZZA", a prominent Italian fine dining restaurant in Tokyo, his role involved travelling around Europe working, studying, and searching for new culinary influence. After ten years at "ACQUA PAZZA", Kazuya decided to move to New Zealand to challenge himself in a completely foreign environment. Since this move, he successfully worked as head chef at the award winning restaurant "Rice" and sister restaurant "CIBO", which are both Asian fusion styled restaurant located Auckland's CBD. Kazuya's culinary roots are inspired by New Zealand's multi-cultural society and the diversity of dining experiences in this country.
