King Faisal Street Amman - Amman - Jordan In 1910, grandfather Saber Turk established Al-Kamal restaurant in Al – Ajami neighbourhood, in the streets of Jaffa, Palestine where Jaffa was well known for its sophistication, the wide expansion of its trade and for producing oranges. Saber the grandfather has worked hard with passion with his eldest son Hashem who has played a major part in this success story. The ambition of saber and Hashem was obvious as they have worked for 37 years to develop and expand the restaurant but unfortunately it didn’t happen the way it was planned for. In 1948 the nakba took place in Palestine and the occupation of Palestine turned them into refugees from Jaffa to Lebanon, where the grandfather saber was emigrated with all his son. few years later the grandfather saber passed away with a heart filled with pain for the loss of his homeland Palestine. The eldest son, Hashem, then started a new journey with his brothers to Amman aiming to be relieved of the effects of grief and loss, and perhaps one of the doors of livelihood awaits them there and thanks to god their plan went like they wanted and there they have started a new chapter in this story. A story that starts with the insistence and enthusiasm of Hashem and his belief that there are still room for him in this life to leave a legacy, and to have the name that he carried all the way from Jaffa to be memorized through generations. As he and his brothers decided to establish Hashem restaurant in 1956 in an alley located on prince Mohammed street – downtown Amman, which has became one of Amman’s landmark.
