The Kumkapı district, which is based on the Eminönü district of Istanbul, which has 150 years of history and is not an example in the world, was established as a fishing village during the Byzantine period. It is possible to see historical buildings such as the church which reached daily from the Byzantine and Ottoman times, which continues to be a region where citizens who eat, drink and have fun in the Ottoman period lived. Today Kumkapi is what comes to mind first again is "eating and drinking" and "entertainment". One of the most important touristic areas of Istanbul, the district is the most important center where "taverns", a common culture of Turkish, Armenian and Jewish citizens living in the city, are gathered. At Kumkapi, where you can witness a sohbete on different levels at every table, you may also have the opportunity to listen to traditional Turkish music (chapters) accompanied by traveling musicians composed of violin, darbuka and clarinet during the meal and to observe the oriental dance show in some taverns. The tables overflowing with cobblestone streets in the neighborhood are going on until 5:00 pm in Kumkapı which is turned into a festival area in the evening by local and foreign sight from the first hours of the evening.
