Sjavarbarinn (The Sea Bar) is a vivid and homely seafood restaurant close to the old harbour – opposite the Reykjavik Maritime Museum – run by chef Magnús Ingi Magnússon and his wife Analisa Montecillo. The fish is as fresh as it gets with the pier and the fish market few steps away. Sjavarbarinn’s main feature is an all-you-can-eat buffet but it also offers an à la carte menu at a very competitive price. During the busy lunch hour, the buffet is filled traditional Icelandic family recipes, which attracts working people in the neighbourhood.
