The building of the current restaurant was built in 1942 as a "black canteen" and kitchen for the miners. The mining was closed in 1959, but the "black canteen" and the kitchen continued to be used during the dismantling until 1963. The rooms were then converted into a restaurant. The bowling alley was inaugurated as a federal bowling alley in 1972. During this time, the restaurant experienced several changes of operator. Those interested in mining history are welcome to take a look at our historical wall in the mining room for further details.
