Poyrazköy is one of the most famous villages of the Beykoz district. Poyrazkoy, a typical fishing village, is also frequented by tourists. It is estimated that the first settlers to Poyrazköy, which dates up to six hundred years before the foundation date, are Genoese. Later, the Byzantines came and settled down, but after the village moved to the Ottoman domination, the face changed with the people brought from Trabzon and Rize. The observatory tower, located in the north east of the village, dominated by the entrance of the Bosphorus, was built by the French architect Baron de Tott by Captain I Derya Cezayirli Hasan Paşa after 1778, according to the records of famous Ottoman historian and statesman Cevdet Pasha. The entrances to this watchtower, built to house personnel on the left and right of the entrance gate, are quite unique. The Poyraz Castle in the village also belongs to the same period. Opposite Poyraz Castle is Garipçe Castle. The fortress, which can be seen from a small part of the land, was used for military purposes.
