The name LA FAVORITA comes from an opera by Donizetti to which the Navarrese tenor Julián Gayarre had a special predilection. Julian Gayarre (1844-1890) died in Madrid at the age of 45. He was at the zenith of his career, having triumphed from Saint Petersburg to Buenos Aires, passing through London's Covent Garden, the Paris Opera, the Scala in Milan and, of course, the Royal Theater in Madrid. His singing style continues to be a reference to this day, to which is added his supernatural voice and the example of his work and perseverance, which led him to herd sheep in the Navarrese Pyrenees to the most high levels of musical art. His honesty and generosity are also, without a doubt, a good example for our day.
