Lutyens opened in the summer of 2009 and is located in the former Reuters building - the famous ticker tape is referenced in the marble mosaic floor. In the autumn after it opened, and alongside several other accolades, it won the Square Meal magazine Best New Restaurant award. Named after the famous architect and designer of the building's façade, the new format was designed by Terence Conran, and includes several dining and drinking options, open for breakfast through to late night cocktails. There are two bars, two restaurants, four private meeting and dining rooms, and a private members club. Lutyens in design, the restaurant is reminiscent of a dining room on board an art deco cruise liner, or perhaps a modern version of the much-loved classic Parisian brasserie. Seating 130, it is a light and airy space with large windows at both ends of the room. It also includes several notable architectural details such as the building's original structural steel columns. Additional features, which are now synonymous with its designer, include a large open kitchen, impressive food displays and a large cheese-conditioning cabinet.
