'Soul', as we are locally and affectionately known, started life as 'Soul F.M' radio station and cafe in 2002. Motown and Soul music were the staple sounds of the place - and still are! In 2004 the radio station closed but the cafe continues to this day. Soul Cafe and Bar is situated near the top of Bold Street in the centre of Liverpool, only five minutes walk from Liverpool Central Station and only two minutes from St Luke's Church (the "bombed out church"), the student quarters and Chinatown. Bold street was once the most fashionable and 'select' shopping street in Liverpool, a fact reflected in its interesting shop fronts, human scale and architecture. Spare a moment to look up above street level at the buildings as you stroll along one of the city's oldest shopping streets. Now regarded as a bohemian area which accommodates a wide variety of small businesses and independent retailers as opposed to the big 'chains' which have made so many of our towns and cities appear characterless and uninspiring. There's certainly never a dull moment on Bold Street and you can sit and enjoy a great cup of coffee and watch the world go by from our outdoor seating area.
