The founder of Iqbal, Salim Usta learned the art of cooking at the beginning of the 1900s when he was a cook assistant at Yıldız Palace. He founded his own business with his brothers in Afyon, a small restaurant called arak Zümrüt ümr in his hometown of Afyon. There is not much habit of eating out; even in these periods when shame was met, the fame of Salim Usta's dishes has been increasing day by day. When news came that Atatürk was going to visit Afyon in 1934, the question of how to host was brought to the agenda. Atatürk, where, how, what will be hosted?
