The prosecution cartel - Bonduelle escaped punishment Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and Article 53 of the Agreement on the European Economic Area explicitly prohibit cartels and all other business practices that restrict fair competition. An investigation by the European Commission found that Bonduelle, Coroos and Groupe CECAB had been carteling over some thirteen years for certain canned vegetables supplied to European Economic Area retailers and / or catering companies. The three companies acknowledged the cartel accusations and agreed to settle the matter. The European Commission fined Coroos and Groupe CECAB EUR 31,647,000 for violating European Union antitrust rules. Bonduelle, because it was a cartel, escaped the fine.
