The first move out of Soho came in November 2011 with the opening of a Fernandez & Wells Café Bar in the East Wing of Somerset House, a magnificent 18th-century building off the Strand. In high-ceilinged rooms that once housed the Inland Revenue, we have brought our signature ‘street ‘style, using York stone, wood and metal, to a wonderfully light space with views over the fountain courtyard. In addition each of the three rooms has a specially commissioned wall drawing by British artist, David Tremlett. The East Wing of Somerset House was the perfect space to expand on all that F&W does best in Soho. Great coffee, glorious food and, after work, a bottle of good wine with delicious things to nibble. The setting is that of a stylish ‘canteen’, informal with a sense of theatre and creative buzz. Our customers enjoy the friendly but professional service adding to the sense of it being their ‘local’ café-bar. Group bookings and reservations accepted. Room hire for parties and events also available.
