"We left the menu of 6 degustation type courses to Jon and Ulla with three requests - duck, seasonal (autumn) and French. To provide for a range of tastes for ages 2 to 93 was perhaps a tall order but on arrival a French champagne (or cranberry juice) greeted us. On seating a pear shooter (schnapps or pear juice) then the "real food" as my granddaughter called it, followed – the style could be classic French with a twist but whatever it is termed it was perfect – raw fish curls [ceviche], cheese soufflé and duck boudin (sliced sausage) with calamari risotto between the soufflé and duck. All courses included a local seasonal vegetable. Given it was a significant birthday celebration; a profiterole cake arrived complete with sparklers and doubled as dessert. Now Ulla knows I have a weak spot for her affogato dessert and just when I thought I was complete, it arrived. O and did I mention the pinot? Perfect for lunch and perfect for this menu although I think we managed a bottle of white selected from the wine rack that tempts us every time. Thank you Jon and Ulla for treating our family to a beautifully crafted Sunday lunch for 12 and I do hope this has inspired you to leap into degustation – you will succeed.
