Tawlet Saida is Souk El Tayeb’s farmers’ kitchen in Saida’s Medineh. Tawlet Saida was developed in partnership with the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development, to develop the skills of the local community of women and to shine a spotlight on the culinary heritage of Saida and the region. Saida’s traditional cuisine is abundant in fish, citrus and the old Medineh Souk traditions, such as foul, ashta and hoummous. Saida’s rich history as a major Phoenician port and trading hub can still be found all over town, with many ancient remnants in the Old City. Tawlet Saida is in the heart of the historic Old Souk, within the labyrinthine alleyways. Tawlet Saida supports the local community, and sources seasonal and local products from Lebanese producers, to provide the very best traditional home-cooked food. Ahla w Sahla bi Saida’s Medineh!
