For 25 years, La Corte has been the most visited restaurant in the Old City of Montevideo. Since 2003, it has been operating in the Plaza Matriz, occupying the ground floor and the basement of Club Uruguay, an emblematic building from 1888, declared a historical heritage of Montevideo. The opening in the new premises was a very careful work. For six months, the old premises of the ACLE store were transformed into a three-story space, in order to serve its customers. In the work, it was wanted to preserve the original walls of the construction of the Uruguay Club, as well as the characteristic iron columns of the buildings of that time. The former ACLE fabric warehouse was transformed into La Cava de La Corte, one of the most attractive and welcoming rooms in the restaurant, due to its stone walls and wine cabinets
