We are open daily, from early morning till late evening and we aim to offer you the ultimate experience, based on quality, diversity and the value of Cretan life. The Venue In Peskesi we have made a traditional “Cretan House” in the center of Heraklion, in the restored historical mansion of captain Polyxigkis, an aesthetically outstanding place with a modern way of operation that fully reflects the high standards we had set right up from the start. This high aesthetic value has ranked us among the 80 best Bar-Restaurants of the world and in the top 10 restaurants in Europe during the “Restaurant & Bar Design Awards”, the world's only event dedicated exclusively to the design of food and drink spaces. Our Philosophy Our philosophy has been inspired by traditional ancient culinary traditions and is the result of multiannual study on the characteristics of the Cretan Diet, such as the collection of food, the way of cooking and the product seasonality. Our aim has been to remember and relive the tastes and scents of the Cretan culinary wealth. Our name The inspiration for our name came from our great writer and philosopher, Nikos Kazantzakis, and his book “Report to Greco”, a fictional autobiography, where he addresses his Cretan “grandfather”, Domenikos Theotokopoulos, with the following excerpt: “: “But you had turned into a flame. Where shall I find you, how shall I see you, what gift shall I bring you to make you remember Crete, to make you raise from the dead? Only the flame can be at your mercy; oh, if only I could become a flame to meet you”.
