The building El Gran Escape Bar and Restaurant has a long and storied history since it was built in the 1950’s. It’s prior lives include that of a Brothel, Social Security office and also the former location of the Cerveceria of Beer Distribution, and then finally becoming El Gran Escape! In 1981 it was a much smaller restaurant than how we know it today, with a bar and a modest fisherman’s menu of typical Costa Rican fare. In 1991, previous owner, originally from Chico, California, spoke to the owner and decided to take over El Gran Escape. Today El Gran Escape has been re-born and is under new ownership and is well known as a local Landmark restaurant a favorite of locals and visitors alike a ain. We source all our ingredients from local purveyors and use the freshest products available to us. We purchase all our fish, meat and vegetables daily. And we are focusing on special of the day to introduce new dishes. Any request you may have feel free to ask and we will accommodate you as best as we can. Our Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year Celebrations are world-famous, and our menu, service and atmosphere keep regulars and new visitors alike coming back for more.
