In 1991, Suzanne Gagnon and chef Daniel Vezina opened the doors of the very first Laurie Raphael where they embarked on a great gastronomic adventure. At that time, they took up the challenge of developing and building, with Quebec producers and artisans, a rich cuisine from our land. In 1996, proud of their success over the past 5 years, the two bold, committed and gastronomy-loving partners invested and acquired their current space on Dalhousie Street. Daniel Vezina began his media career and discovered a great talent as a communicator. His participation in several television shows allows him to share, with his growing number of viewers, his culinary values and his sense of belonging to the Quebec terroir. In 2005, the two accomplices continued their mission by transforming their space into a restaurant-workshop-boutique. Signed by Quebec artisans and designers, this innovative concept, in addition to offering a chic and gourmet restaurant, allows customers to offer the opportunity to take cooking classes with Daniel Vezina or to buy homemade products at the shop. In 2008, having a reputation established far beyond Quebec, an opportunity was offered to them and a second Laurie Raphael was born in Montreal in the magnificent hotel Le Germain. Laurie Raphael's association with this group, which shares the same values, is instantly a great success and remains so to this day. Also in 2008, their son Raphael Vezina returned to Quebec after a 3-year absence with his BTS (higher technological bac) in the kitchen, obtained at the Paul Augier Hotel School in Nice, France. As passionate about gastronomy as his parents, he masterfully kept the cuisine of Laurie Raphael de Montréal for 2 years, then that of Quebec City since 2012. Entrepreneur and creative, Raphael takes over and is now co-owner of the Brand Laurie Raphael with his sister, Laurie-Alex. In 2016, major renovations were carried out in order to bring the restaurant up to date, but especially to the image of the two young co-owners. A unique concept that is acclaimed by Quebec's gourmet clientele... and for that matter!
