Abruzzese Restaurant is a gastronomic experience located in the city of La Plata since 1937. Francisco Boccabella, arrived from Italy alone, like many other immigrants from the pre-war of '43, had left his wife Albina and their three children: Pascual, Jose and Antonia there. He had to take his first steps, settle and face the new destination in these payments of the Rio de la Plata, more precisely in the city of La Plata. It was in our city where Don Francisco started working, his first job was as a waiter in the historic American Bar at 7 e / 54 and 55. Once he saved a little money, he brought his family from Italy. And once there together they begin to consolidate and consider, especially Albina stop being employees to risk a little more and live on what they knew how to do "cooking". Albina's entrepreneurial spirit and her intention led to half convincing Francisco, until one day she and Pascual (who was around the age of 13) took tram 12 and by a notice in the newspaper they stopped at 4 and 42 to see “that bowling alley” that had been published for sale. "It was a mousetrap" as Pascual remembered it - a still life - ... they called it "the house of the little birds", because there were many of them in the leafy grove it held. Six tables, twelve straw and junk chairs and a pool table that they would later sell for $ 600 to pay for the business key, which had cost $ 500 from the forts and $ 80 in rent per month were the trousseau of the new venture. Opposite… .the English tram company, with Italians and Spaniards as machinists, motormen and guards, would be their first customers, who "stolen" from their closest competitor, at lunchtime, and who stopped at the house "encrypt" , a general store that also fed gringos and Galicians in those days. Suspended wooden floor, front without reversing and a pizzara that encouraged eating "two dishes and a wine for only 50 cents" With the buseca as a main course, a stew for 15 and the soup for 5 twine, they put together the market strategy of those beginnings forcing Pascual to shout on the "minestron para 7" sidewalk! When in reality he had only one parishioner, but he had to confuse his competitor and attract the attention of the railway workers who were crossing to eat. The trucks that came from the Swift, Armor, Wilson and Terrabussi, quickly spread the word about Boccabella's food in the Abruzzese and so long lines of truckers were loyal customers every day, they were pensioners who paid every 15 days. On rainy days they also attended because the trams did not go out in danger of their engines burning, and at night Pascual's window sounded to be opened to eat something, warm their beaks and play the Spanish deck. Already the whole family working fully, the property was bought with a material floor and the front plastered, and some adjacent lots to pay. It was only in 1945 that the first families from La Plata arrived to eat, the first being that of a Mr. Garcia ..., at that time manager of the Falabella winery, owners of Banco Credito provincial, calle 7 and esq.46. There around '55 -'56, Don Francisco and Dona Albina left for Mar de la Plata, Jose and Pascual took the helm and a new push with a new location that marks the definitive development of Abruzzese with achievements and efforts, without flavors overcome thanks to an impeccable conduct and to the confidence of the people from La Plata reaching our days, where the new generational replacement keeps intact the old advice to march straight, take good care of people and cultivate friendship in this magical world of good eating.
