Our story begins with the turn of a key, as the doors to China Court Restaurant were opened and history was made. The year was 1990 and the view from the windows of China Court was very different to that of today. China Court is situated right in the heart of Birmingham’s Chinese Quarter. This area was originally developed way back in the late sixties early seventies to accommodate a concentration of Chinese migrants who had arrived here after World War II when there was a great labour shortage in England. Initially it was men, mainly from Hong Kong, but as the years rolled on their families joined them and they lived and worked together largely in the catering trade which was growing rapidly.
