The dining table at Vegera is a kaleidoscope of colours and tastes which are the very essence of health and freshness. Our own virgin olive oil, the wine and agricultural products of Crete are the foundations of our diet. The bread, organic vegetables, pulses, fruits and dried nuts all have their special place at the table. The thyme honey, eggs and dairy products from free raise animals complete our menu based on the Cretan diet. In Crete, as well as in other Greek areas, meat eating is a ritual. In ancient Crete they would eat meat when sacrifices were made. In later times, meat was eaten on important holidays and only much later it became a custom whereby meat was eaten every Sunday or every other Sunday.
