DE: Der Gastraum des Bieberbau trägt die Handschrift des Bildhauers/ Stuckateurmeister Richard Bieber. Er setzte sich im Jahre 1894 damit ein Denkmal. Aus seinen alten Werkstätten in der Leipziger Straße durch das neue Kaufhaus Tietz vertrieben, baute er in der Durlacher Straße ein neues Atelierhaus. Expressionistische Maler wie Pechstein und Kirchner lebten und arbeiteten hier. Der Bieberbau diente als Gaststätte für Maler, Nachbarn und Gäste, und gleichzeitig als Schaufenster des Stuckateur-Handwerkes: Ein Heer von Meistern und Lehrlingen schuf Skulpturen, die Biebers Kunden als Muster und Anregung und zugleich der Erbauung der Restaurantgäste dienen sollten. Im Krieg brannte das Haus und büßte seine einst prächtige Außenfassade ein. Wie durch ein Wunder aber blieb Biebers Gastraum vollständig verschont.
