La Prensa was opened in 1970 by the father the current owner, David Pérez. The sight was previously a wine shop that sold in bulk. A short while later a wine bar was installed as people could taste the wine that were sold there. Along with the wine bar, a small dining room was added to serve homemade food. n 1985 Marisa Barbeán started working with theirs, current chef, and she started applying her innovative ideas. In 1990 the dining room was enlarged and in 2000, the wine bar was closed to make more room for the restaurant. The kitchen of La Prensa cooks what is considered creative cuisine with a traditional flare and with some fun touches added. It is made as contemporary cuisine with touches of imagination making a quality product. Using quality products make quality meals, and is the only way to do this. La Prensa was awarded a Michelin Star in 2012 and a Repsol Sun in 2013.
